Watford FC scoring sensation, Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo has been named as October’s English Premier League African Player of the Month. He beat off stiff competition from Sadio Mane of Southampton who ran him really close in the votes, and Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.

New African Soccer, organisers of the English Premier League African players awards, have announced its shortlist for the October version of the initiative. 

Tomorrow is the deadline set by FIFA for all nomination papers to be duly filed for whoever wants to be President of the body, in elections holding on 26 February next year.

Leicester City’s Algerian midfielder Riyad Mahrez received his award as September’s Premier League African Player of the Month and stated his delight at the award.

Exactly a year ago today, elections were held into the leadership positions of Nigerian football. One will recall that after the World Cup in Brazil, Nigerian football was thrown into chaos. Threats of suspension hovered on the nation's football by FIFA due to the crisis caused by warring factions, the seeming involvement of government and litigation.
